Lieutenant General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa Officially Appointed As Chairman CPEC Authority:
Former Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been officially appointed as the very first Chairman of CHINA PAKISTAN Economic Corridor Authority (CPEC Authority).
The new Chairman CPEC Authority Lieutenant General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa is selected as the authority’s Chairman for the duration of four years. The CPEC Authority is a Government Body and it will work under the Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms.
The creation of the CPEC Authority was announced by the Prime Minister and President of PAKISTAN officially notified the “The CPEC Authority Ordinance, 2019” for the establishment of the authority back in October 18, 2019.

The creation of the CPEC Authority is aimed at accelerating the pace of all the Mega Projects and other CPEC related activities. Furthermore, the creation of the new CPEC Authority will also help Government to unlock the potential of interlinked networks, to find new drives and channels of growth and global value chains through global and regional connectivity channels.
The New CPEC Authority Chairman Lieutenant General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has a vast experience in managing Command and Staff Level positions in PAKISTAN ARMY. Lt General (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa has been served as the Director General of PAKISTAN ARMY’s Media Wing Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) from 2012-2016. Lieutenant General (Retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa has also served as the Commander Southern Command in Quetta until his retirement.
