PAKISTAN has declared by the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) as the most improved country in Nuclear Safety Index 2020.

The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) has published the Nuclear Security Index 2020 in which it has ranked PAKISTAN as the most improved country to curb the possibility of Nuclear Theft with its state of the art safeguard and measures.

“The majority of Pakistan’s improvements are in the Security and Control Measures category (+25) because of its passage of new regulations.

Pakistan also improved in the Global Norms category (+1),” NTI noted in the report.

According to the report released by the Nuclear Threat Initiative, PAKISTAN has significantly improved its score by 7 points in Security and Control Measures.

“PAKISTAN’s improvements in the Security and Control Measures category are significant because strengthened laws and regulations result in durable boosts in PAKISTAN’s score as well as provide sustainable security benefits,” NTI said.

PAKISTAN has managed to gain +25 points over the years and declared as the second-largest improvement of the country since the establishment of Nuclear Watchdog back in 2012.

PAKISTAN has managed to achieve this milestone due to its strengthened security measures and regulations the country has implemented over the years.

The majority of improvements PAKISTAN has made in the domain of Security and Control Measures.

PAKISTAN has improved its score by +7 points. Moreover, the country also improved its ranking in the category of Global Norms by +1 points.

“PAKISTAN has steadily improved in the Security and Control Measures category over time with the passage of new regulations, improving by +8 in 2014, +2 in 2016, and +6 in 2018.” NTI added.

“Its score in 2014 improved owing to new regulations for on-site physical protection. In 2016, it passed new cyber Security regulations. In 2018, it improved its insider threat protections. Its newest regulations mark a much larger shift,” NIT noted.

PAKISTAN, who is the seventh Nuclear Power of the world, has steadily improved its performance over the years. The Nuclear Country has gained +8 points in 2014, +2 in 2016 and +6 in 2018.

PAKISTAN has taken several measures to safeguard all its Nuclear Facilities and Nuclear Arsenal back in 2014, which helped it to gain +8 points in the year.

PAKISTAN has passed the new Cyber Security Law in 2016, which results in the further improving of +2 points. PAKISTAN made a major shift in 2018 with its policies, laws and regulations that results in the gaining of +8 points.

The Nuclear Watchdog has ranked PAKISTAN at 19th Number in its Nuclear Security Index 2020.

PAKISTAN’s Ambassador to the US, Asad Majeed Said, “We welcome that NTI categorizes Pakistan as the most improved country for nuclear security measures in its Nuclear Security Index 2020. Pakistan’s improvement is also the second-largest ever by a country since the NTI Index was launched in 2012.”

Right now, PAKISTAN is ranked at 33rd place at latest ranking and the country has achieved an overall score of 58.
