UNHCR Filippo Grandi Held Important Meeting With COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa At General Headquarters Islamabad:
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Mr. Filippo Grandi held important an meeting with CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi on Thursday, September 16, 2021, PAKISTAN ARMY Media Wing Head DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar said in an official statement.
According to the details released by the ISPR, UNHCRO Mr. Filippo Grandi visits GHQ Rawalpindi and meets with the COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security, the current situation in Afghanistan and collaboration in humanitarian assistance were discussed,” DG ISPR said.
During the meeting, both the dignitaries discussed various matters of regional security and the ongoing situation in Afghanistan after the hastily withdrawal and defeat of US and Allied Forces in Afghanistan.
During the meeting, COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa highly lauded and appreciated the role and efforts of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in promoting core values and peace during different crises across the globe.
The visiting dignitary highly acknowledged the precious efforts of PAKISTAN for hosting 4 million refugees for over four decades in a row.
The visiting dignitary also appreciated the positive role played by PAKISTAN in Afghanistan, including the provision of humanitarian assistance and evacuation process for the diplomats and foreign citizens from the country.
It is pertinent to mention that PAKISTAN ARMY CHIEF General Qamar Javed Bajwa and the Top Military Commanders of Sacred Country PAKISTAN reiterated their firm resolve, commitment and dedication to the eternal peace in Afghanistan and stressing constructive engagement in humanitarian support in the country.
“The participants took comprehensive review of global, regional and domestic security environment. The forum was apprised on the prevalent situation in Afghanistan, especially security along PAK-Afghan Border and effective safeguards in place against various threats,” DG ISPR added.
“The COAS concluded that the designs of external and internal forces inimical to peace and stability in PAKISTAN shall be thwarted at all costs,” the communiqué said.
