HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer:
Heavy Industries Taxila is a top of the line and Credible State Owned Defense Company of PAKISTAN, which deals in the designing & manufacturing of State of the Art and Cutting-Edge Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), Armored Personnel Carriers (APC), Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV), Self Propelled Guns, Logistic Vehicle, Armored Recovery Vehicle, Command Vehicle and so on. The name of the new product offered by the Company known as the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer.
The HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is basically a primary mobile artillery, which is built at Heavy Industries Taxila. The HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is rebuilt at HIT to the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM’s) Parameters and Specifications with the help of the State of the Art and Cutting-Edge machinery, equipment, test benches and rebuilt facilities.
The Turret is located on the rear side of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer. The commander of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer operated from the Small Cupola, which is located on the top of the Turret. The Cupola of the Howitzer can also be fitted with the option of 12.7 mm 0.50 Caliber M2HB Heavy Machine Gun.
The overall designed of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is quite simple. The main Engine of the Howitzer in the right front side, while the driver seat is located in the front-left side of the Howitzer.
Engine:
The HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is powered by the Detroit Diesel 8V71T 450 Horsepower Engine. The maximum speed of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is 65 Kilometers and the maximum range of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer can be extended up to 390 Kilometers in total.
Amphibious Capabilities:
The HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is also designed to actually float on water and for this purpose the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer can also be optionally fitted with the Flotation Kit.
The Flotation kit helps to Howitzer to easily overcome the water obstacles in its passage. In Water, the maximum speed of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is up to 6.5 Kilometers/Hour in total.
Armament of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer:
The basic and primary weapon of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is M126 155 mm/L23 Self-propelled Howitzer.
The HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer is armed with the 28 rounds of ammunition and the maximum range of the weapon is up to 20,000 meters by using a rocket assisted projectile and up to 14,600 meters by using a standard HE-FRAG projectile. The Howitzer is capable of firing a maximum of 4 rounds per minutes and the total life of the Howitzer is around 7,500 rounds in total.
The Secondary Armament of the HIT M109A2 Self Propelled Howitzer consists of M2HB Heavy Machine Gun with 500 12.7 mm rounds.
