Launching Ceremony of Indigenously Built 1500 Tons Maritime Patrol Vessel Held at KS&EW:

More jubilations for Best Great PAKISTANI Nation as the launching ceremony of the indigenously built massive 1500 Tons State of the Art Maritime Patrol Vessel (MPV) for PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) was held at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW).

The Maritime Patrol Vessel (MPV) for the PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) was built in Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) with the technical assistance of the PAKISTAN’s Iron Brother CHINA.

The launching ceremony of PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency’s Maritime Patrol Vessel was attended by the High Ranking Officials and PAKISTAN Navy and Top CHINESE Diplomats, Engineers and Technicians.

The Newly Indigenously built Maritime Patrol Vessel (MPV) named as the PMSS Kashmir. The name was given as a symbol of PAKISTAN’s Solidarity with the integral part of Kashmir.

The newly built ship will be commanded by the PAKISTAN NAVY Captain and will be accompanied by the 10 officers and 64 crewmen. The Newly Inducted MPV will be a part of Offshore Squadron Number 26 under the operational and administrative control of the Head Quarter of PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency (HQ PMSA).

As far as the weaponry options of the MPV PMSS Kashmir is concerned; the PMSS Kashmir will be loaded and equipped with the state of the art weaponry, navigations and communication systems.

The Newly Inducted PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency’s Maritime Patrol Vessel is fully capable and loaded of undertaking multi-missions as the law enforcement patrolling, surveillance, Anti-poaching operations, Anti-Smuggling and Search and Rescue Missions in the highly contested Indian Ocean. The New PMSS Kashmir Maritime Patrol Vessel has also the capability of shipboard helicopter operations.  

The MPV measures 95 meters in length and width of 12.2 meters. The maritime Patrol Vessel has an impressive endurance of 3500 Nautical Miles. The newly built Maritime Patrol Vessel is built with the help of sophisticated technical assistance of CHINA Shipbuilding & Trading Company (CSTC) and Huang Pu Shipyard.

The indigenously built and newly inducted Maritime Patrol Vessel (MPV) is fully equipped and loaded to boost and enhance the PAKISTAN’s Maritime Security Agency’s Capability for Search and Rescue Missions in the highly contested Maritime Economic Zone of Great PAKISTAN.

The newly indigenously built Maritime Patrol Vessel is basically a multi-mission 1500 Tons Patrol Vessel built with the superstructure of aluminum and steel. The Maritime Patrol Vehicle (MPV) is powered by 2 advanced diesel engines and it can achieve top speed up to 26 Knots in total.

The Chief Guest of the Ceremony was the Vice Admiral of Naval Staff Vice Chief Admiral Kaleem Shaukat. The Vice Admiral Chief reiterated that Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) have achieved another milestone with the collaboration of PAKISTAN’s All Weather Ally CHINA.

It is important to mention that the KS&EW has achieved this milestone ahead of the Scheduled time frame, so it also reflects the professionalism of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW).

The MD of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) Read Admiral Ather Saleem said on the occasion that the induction of a state of the art Maritime Patrol Vessel (MPV) will boost the surveillance and Maritime Patrol Capability of PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and will act as a force multiplier in safeguarding the highly contested maritime frontiers of PAKISTAN along with the PAKISTAN NAVY.

The Managing Director of Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) also brief the audience about the ongoing mega construction projects at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) including the construction of 4 x HANGOR Class Diesel Electric Submarines and 2 x MILGEM Class Corvettes for PAKISTAN NAVY.

The MD KS&EW said on the occasion that the working process of the ongoing projects is going very streamline and hope that KS&EW will complete the aforesaid projects as per the set scheduled time frame.

The MD KS&EW also said on the occasion that Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) have played a very vital role growth of PAKISTAN’s National Economy and National Self-reliance and the company has delivered up to 15 different platforms to PAKISTAN in the time frame of just the last five years.  It means Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) has completed up to 3 mega projects in a year.

The regional security challenges and demands are changing rapidly and the security paradigm responsibility of the PAKISTAN Maritime Security Agency has gone up to three folds to regulate and monitor the vast maritime frontiers covering approx. 295,000 Square Kilometers stretching over 1,000 Kilometers mouth of the Gwatar Bay in the West and Sir Creek on the Eastern Side.

It is important to mention that Ministry of Defense Production has signed the contract with the M/s CSTC of up to 6 x MPV back in June 2015. As per the contract details, 2 x MPV’s were to be constructed in PAKISTAN under the Transfer of Technology (TOT) with CHINA, while the construction of 3 x MPV’s were to be undertaken by the CHINESE Xijang Shipyard, Liuzhou and 1 x MPV will be constructed by the Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard, Guangzhou.
