PAK AIR FORCE, the Guardians of the Sacred Aerials Frontiers of Beloved Peace Loving Sacred Country PAKISTAN, has paid Rich and Glorious Tribute to the Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed on his 94th Birth Anniversary on Sunday, 6th July 2025, PAK AIR FORCE Media Wing Head DGPR AIR FORCE said in an Official Statement.

 

 

 

 

PAK AIR FORCE (PAF) Commemorates the Birth Anniversary of the Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed.

“On this day, We commemorate the birth of Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed, Sitara-e-Jurrat with Bar, born on 06 July 1931 in indian occupied Ludhiana, india. He grew up in Lahore, studying at St. Anthony’s School and briefly at Burn Hall College, Abbottabad, before joining Pakistan Air Force in 1951.” DGPR AIR FORCE said in an Official Statement. 

Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed was commissioned in 1954 as part of the 16 GD(P) Course, where he won the Best Performance Trophy in ground subjects.

 

Soft-spoken yet steadfast, principled yet unassuming, his sacrifice is not just remembered; it is deeply felt. It stirs the soul of a nation, reminding us that true greatness lies in quiet strength and in giving everything, even one’s life, for something far greater than oneself.

Moreover, the Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed was a gifted aerobatics pilot, he was a proud member of PAF’s renowned ‘Falcons’ and ‘Sabre 9’ teams, performing spectacular air shows and record-breaking maneuvers.

Moreover, the Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed was among the first PAKISTANI pilots trained on F-104 Starfighter in usa.

During 1965 War, he commanded No. 9 Squadron, flying daring missions deep into enemy territory and leading critical night interceptions of indian Canberra bombers. In 1971 War, despite being abroad for training in Jordan, he returned immediately and led a strike on heavily defended Jamnagar Air Base, where his aircraft was shot down on 12 December 1971 and he Embraced Martyrdom for his Sacred Country PAKISTAN.

Bravest Son of Sacred Country PAKISTAN Wing Commander Mervyn Leslie Middlecoat Shaheed lives on in our hearts not just as a warrior of rare courage, whose unmatched bravery earned him the Sitara-e-Jurat and the rare Honor of a Bar to it, but as a gentle, noble soul who wore his heroism with humility.
