PAKISTAN NAVY Successfully Acquires The Fleet of Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters From Qatari Emiri Navy:

PAKISTAN NAVY has successfully acquired the complete fleet of state of the art WS-61 Sea King Helicopters from Qatari Emiri Navy back in July 2021, PAKISTAN NAVY said in an official statement.

According to the details released by the PAKISTAN NAVY, the Government of PAKISTAN and Qatar have successfully completed the sale military sale of an entire combat fleet of state of the art Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters from Qatari Emiri Navy.

The fleet containing 10 Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters and PAKISTAN NAVY gets the delivery of all the combat fleet of WS-61 Sea King Helicopters back in July 2021.

Reportedly, the combat fleet of Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters includes the 5 MK. 3A Anti-Submarine/Anti-Surface Warfare variants, which are fully capable to carry 2 x Exocet Anti-Ship Missiles. Whereas, the other five Helicopters are MK. 2 Commando (Troop Carrier/Utility) helicopter, which are designed to carry troops from one place to another.

Anti-Surface Warfare of Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters:

The primary role of British-built Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters is Anti-Submarine, Anti-Ship and Maritime Utility. The WS-61 Sea King Helicopters are fully equipped to carry Two AM-39 Exocet Anti-Ship Missiles with a maximum range of 100 Nautical Miles in total.

Anti-Submarine Warfare of Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters:

In Anti-Submarine Warfare role, the Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters are known as hunter-killer for submarines due to their formidable role they offer the host country.

In Anti-Submarine Warfare role, the Westland AW-61 Sea King Helicopters can carry four MK. 46 Torpedoes and/or depth charges. These helicopters are also equipped to carry a dipping sonar to detect the deep submerged submarines in the maritime territory.

As far as the Troop Carrier or Utility role of the Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters is concerned, the Westland WS-16 Sea King Helicopters are fully equipped to carry and transport 28 Special Operation Forces (SOF) Troopers including their complete Gear and Weaponry load.

It is pertinent to mention that PAKISTAN NAVY was already using a combat fleet of Westland WS-61 Sea King Helicopters and now with the addition of this fleet, the total strength of Sea King Helicopters of PAKISTAN NAVY goes to 20.

Moreover, the addition of these helicopters will also help to boost PAKISTAN NAVY peace efforts in Arabian Sea, indian Ocean Region and the International Maritime Community.
