PAKISTAN AIR FORCE gets the delivery of second SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Aircraft back in April 10 to monitor the covert activities of indian air force in the indian airspace. After that, PAF ordered three additional numbers of SAAB 2000 Early Airborne Warning & Control System Aircraft from the company back in 2017.
Recently, PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has inducted a total of 8 numbers of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C) aircraft in its arsenal after getting the recent delivery of aircraft from Sweden.
The SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C is basically a variant of SAAB 2000 turboprop aircraft with ERIEYE PS-890 reconnaissance radar. The revolutionary ERIEYE radar is basically an active phased array pulse Doppler radar that operates in the frequency band of 3.1 GHz to 3.3 GHz.
One of the distinctive features of the ERIEYE Radar is that it can be made operational on short notice and it only takes 3 minutes in total during climb and taking-off and it covers a surveillance area of 500,000 Km² in total.
The electronic warfare system of the SAAB 2000 reconnaissance aircraft is based on the SAAB Avitronics Self-Protection Suite and HES-21 Electronic support Measures (ESM).
The HES-21 Electronic Support Measures (ESM) provides effective ground-based support system (EGSS), which helps to provide real-time analysis and data for the electronic warfare system installed on the aircraft.
The Electronic Support Measures (ESM) System provides close to 100% probability of intercept (POI) ratio. The receiver of the aircraft is also equipped with the interferometer antenna arrays for added protection and communication system.
