PAKISTAN ARMY UN Mission Rescues Sudanese City From Major Disaster By Heroic Effort:
PAKISTAN ARMY Engineers serves under the umbrella of UN Peace Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) in Sudan, managed to save one of the biggest city of Sudan, city of Bentiu, from major flooding by timely diverting the water flow away from the city area.
PAKISTAN ARMY Engineers managed to save the Sudanese city with Heroic effort by timely moving and deploying the heavy equipment required to perform rapid construction to divert rapid water flow.
The Commanding Officer of PAKISTAN MILITARY Engineers Task Force, Lieutenant General Hameed Akbar Khan narrated the effort by saying as “The minute we received information from the Field Office that communities need our urgent intervention, we swung into action.”
“Time was of essence and so we speedily relocated essential equipment from other projects to intervene in Bentiu,” Commanding Officer added.
He further added that the assistance provided by the UN Mission in South Sudan played a vital role in averting the city from the major disaster.
An official privy to the details said that authorities deployed to monitor the water level haven’t performed their duty and if PAKISTAN ARMY Troops didn’t act in time, then the town and the surrounding areas of the city would be completely submerged by the flood.
The people of the Sudanese city of Bentiu specially thanked PAKISTAN ARMY for saving the city from a major disaster by their heroic effort.
However, the city of Bentiu has been saved from an imminent threat of flooding, but the overall danger of flooding still persists, because the water level is way higher than the normal, which will take months to recede from the areas completely.

It is pertinent to mention that PAKISTAN ARMY UN Peacekeeper Lance Naik Adil Jan embraced martyrdom while serving with the UN Peace Mission in Darfur.
“Lance Naik Adil Jan, FC Balochistan, age 38 years, resident of Lakki Marwat, was part of UN mission at Darfur [which is] responsible for [the] protection of civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance,” DG ISPR said.
DG ISPR further added that at least 161 PAKISTANI Peacekeepers have been martyred while serving different global peace missions for International peace and stability under the umbrella of the United Nations.
