PAKISTAN AIR FORCE Successfully And Quietly Inducts Hi-Tech And Highly Advanced 9th SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning And Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft In Its Combat Arsenal:
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE, the Guardians of the Sacred Skies of the Beloved Peace Loving Sacred Country PAKISTAN, “Successfully and Quietly” Inducts the 9th SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft in its Combat Arsenal, PAK AIR FORCE Media Wing Head DGPR AIR FORCE said in an Official Statement.
PAK AIR FORCE (PAF) has revealed that it procured a new Saab 2000-based ERIEYE airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft that has been inducted in its Combat Arsenal.
The SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft is a State of the art Hi-Tech Aircraft that uses the Top of the Line Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar that offers the Detection range of several Aerial and Ground Targets with a range of up to 450 Kilometers in total.
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has given the Serial Number “23-058” to the newly Inducted SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft, thus bringing the total SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Aircraft to 9 in total.
History of Procurement of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft By PAKISTAN AIR FORCE:
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE initially ordered the 6 x 2000 SAAB ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft back in 2006 for USD 1.15 Billion. However, the order is restricted to 4 x SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Aircraft due to the 2005 Earthquake in AZAD KASHMIR.
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE gets the delivery of the 4 SAAB ERIEYE Aircraft in couple of years from Swedish Giant SAAB.
PAF approached the SAAB for the repairing of the aircraft, but SAAB refused that these Aircraft cannot be repaired and must be replaced with the new ones.
However, the Brave Falcons of PAKISTAN AIR FORCE Successfully Restored the Damages SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft by utilizing “Own Resources” in Beloved Peace Loving Sacred Country PAKISTAN.
When PAF told SAAB that it had Successfully Restored the Damaged SAAB Aircraft, the SAAB was something that cannot be absorb easily by SAAB, as PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has done that was next to Impossible.
Back in 2016, the then PAK AIR FORCE CHIEF (CAS) Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman confirmed that the AIR HQ Islamabad has ordered 3 x More SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) Aircraft from Swedish Giant SAAB.
In 2016, Saab disclosed that it received an AEW&C order valued at $132 million US, and then a $153 million US order in 2017. Combined, the cost was $285 million US, which (based on the unit pricing in 2007) would cover three systems.
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) took the Delivery of the 3 x SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) Aircraft, thus bringing the total SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft from 4 to 7 Aircraft in total.
This Unnamed customer was revealed to be the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE as PAKISTAN AIR FORCE successfully inducted the SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft with the serial number “23-058” in its Combat Arsenal.
Main and Salient Features of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning And Control System (AEW&C):
Main and Salient features of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) Aircraft are listed as under:
-
ERIEYE 360° Surveillance AESA Radar:
The distinctive feature of the SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft is its ERIEYE 360° Surveillance Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar that has instrumental detection range of up to 450 Kilometers for dense hostile Aerial and Ground-based Targets in dense Electronic Warfare Environments.
The ERIEYE 360° Surveillance Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar is capable of tracking multiple air and sea target over the horizon and provides above 20km altitude coverage, 360° coverage and has sea surveillance capability.
The radar incorporates an identification friend or foe interrogator. The system comprises an active phased array pulse Doppler radar with a secondary surveillance radar.
-
Total Range and Performance of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft:
The maximum cruise of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft is 629km/h and patrol speeds of the aircraft is 296km/h. The time required by the aircraft to climb an altitude of 9,144m is 15 minutes.
The range maximum range is 3,705km, take-off run of the aircraft is 1,400m, and the maximum endurance is 9.5 hours. The aircraft weighs around 14,500kg and its maximum take-off weight is 23,000kg.
-
Electronics Warfare Suite:
The SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) Aircraft features the Hi-Tech Electronics Warfare Suite, Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and Self-Protection Suite.
The Electronics Warfare Suite of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft also provides mission data for the aircraft electronic warfare system and for analysis of recorded data.
-
Self-Protection Suite:
The SAAB 2000 ERIEYE Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C) consists of defensive aids control system, radar warning, laser warning, missile approach warning and chaff and flare dispenser systems.
The self-protection suite provides selection and, in automatic mode, the initiation of the chaff and countermeasures sequences for missiles and other airborne munitions.
The laser warning system of SAAB 2000 ERIEYE AEW&C Aircraft features 0.5 to 17 microns wavelength bands. Spatial and spectral coverage is provided by an array of three sensors on each side of the aircraft.
The chaff and flare dispensing system (CFDS) comprises a dispenser control unit, (CFDC) with a cockpit mounted display and control panel, defensive aids suite computer with a threat library database, two BOL electromechanical dispensers and six BOP pyrotechnical dispensers.
The BOP dispenser is a pyrotechnic dispenser carrying NATO standard rectangular cartridges or magazines of 39 1in² cartridges.
The BOP The dispenser has the capability to dispense different ammunition types concurrently. The BOP dispensers are housed on each side of the underside of the fuselage to the aft of the wings.
-
Electronic Support Measures:
The Electronic Support Measures (ESM) system comprises digital narrow band and wide band receivers and associated antennae, providing close to 100 % probability of intercept (POI). The digital receiver is equipped with interferometer antenna arrays.
The ESM obtains the electronic order of battle (EOB) data and intercepts, characterises and identifies signals, defines their direction of arrival, generating and displaying warning information. The system operates autonomously and allows real time ESM analysis and presentation to its operator on board the aircraft.
