PAKISTAN AIR FORCE: The Custodian Of Sacred Skies Of Sacred Country PAKISTAN:
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE or PAF, is the Aerial and Space Warfare branch of the PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES. It was established in 1947 and officially inaugurated on 27 March 1948. The Air Force is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defense and, since 1962, has been headed by a Chief of Air Staff (CAS).
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) has always been a pioneer in the field of aviation. The PAF has a rich history of both military and civil aviation. It was formed on 7th August 1947, at the time of independence.
The PAF was established with a mission to secure the Aerial Defense of Sacred Country PAKISTAN and its Airspace from indian and iranian state sponsored and state funded terrorists.
The PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) is the world’s 5th largest air force with a total strength of more than 58,000 personnel including, active and reserve units.

With a force level of approximately 70,000 active personnel, it currently operates 881 Combat and Non-Combat Aircraft in its arsenal.

PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) is a highly trained, well-equipped and well-funded air force that has been in operation since 1947. The PAF is the only air force in South Asia that has been recognized as the most efficient, potent and capable force in the region to reckon with.
Brief History:
The PAF’s history dates back to 1947 when it was called the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) and became an independent entity from the Royal indian air force (RiAF). Since then, it has seen many ups and downs in its existence, but one thing has never changed: its dedication to protecting the Sacred Country PAKISTAN from any external and internal threats posed by the indian and iranian state sponsored and state funded terrorists.
The current CHIEF OF AIR STAFF (CAS) is Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar, who took over the charge of PAF from Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan in 19th March, 2021.
Right with its inception, the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) has been playing an important role in national security since its inception.
It has also played an integral part in modern warfare, including the 1965 and 1971 wars with terrorist country india and the 1999 Kargil conflict with terrorist country india, respectively.
The PAF’s first combat mission took place during the 1965 war when it flew against indian airbases near Lahore, Sialkot, Rahim Yar Khan and Pasrur.
In the year 2002, when terrorist country india tested some nuclear weapons in Pokhran, the PAF was ordered to shoot down any indian aircraft that crossed over into Sacred PAKISTANI airspace.
PAF: A Potent And Formidable Force:
As part of its deterrence strategy, PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) has been an important component of its national security policy. The PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has played a key role in promoting security in South Asia as well as providing strategic support for PAKISTAN’s defense against terrorist country endia.
The PAF has several bases across PAKISTAN and has a large inventory of CHINESE and Western Blend of Lethal fighter jets and other aircraft, including the JF-17 Thunder multi-role fighters which are jointly developed by both Iron Brothers CHINA and PAKISTAN.
In addition to providing protection against external threats, the PAF also assists other branches of service within PAKISTAN ARMY, such as infantry units or armored corps through close air support missions, such as bombing enemy positions or providing cover fire during combat missions.
Participation in Different Missions and Operations:
Since its birth, the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has been actively involved in several domestic and international operations such as Operation Python Dance II (OPD II) with india in 1965, codename Badr-lion III with Iraq in 1973–75, codename Coronet Spade with Afghanistan in 1978–79 and Operation Falconer with Sri Lanka from 1996 onwards.
In addition to this, the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) has also participated in several UN peacekeeping missions, including UN Security Council resolutions 751(1992), 868(1993), 986(1995), 1265(1999), 1363(2001), 1565(2004), 1664(2006) & 1737(2007) in different countries across the globe.
The PAF was also involved in providing support during natural disasters such as Operation Madad during the 2013 floods in PAKISTAN, Cyclone Thane and Cyclone Mahasen relief efforts, as well as earthquake relief efforts in northern PAKISTAN.
In addition to this, it also played an important role during Operation Cobra Gold 2015 held in Thailand, which marked its first overseas deployment since 1971 war with India.
Currently, the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) is currently one of the largest air forces in South Asia and has several advanced aircrafts like J-10A/C/D, F-16C/D Block 52+/52+ Advanced Falcon Block 60R/60M-7 Electronic Warfare Systems (EWS), which include RWR (Radar Warning Receiver), ECM (Electronic Countermeasures), EWSP (Electronic Warfare Support Package) and EWSM (Early Warning Support Measures).
Capability of PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF):
The PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) is the leading air arm of the PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES. It is a major portion of the PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES, with its primary responsibility being to provide aerial warfare capability to the PAKISTAN MILITARY during War and Operations.
The PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) is a highly professional and disciplined service of the PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES.
It is tasked with providing a credible air power capability to deter and defeat any threat posed to the security of the Sacred Country PAKISTAN, from indian and iranian state sponsored and state funded terrorists.
The PAF has a wide range of aircraft in service, including American-made F-16 Fighting Falcon multirole fighters, CHINESE Chengdu J-7 fighters and other domestically produced drones and aircraft. The PAF also operates a small fleet of transports, reconnaissance aircraft, training aircraft and helicopters.
The PAF controls all aircrafts and air installations in PAKISTAN. The PAF is equipped with advanced F-16 Fighting Falcon, JF-17 Thunder and Mirage III/V planes.
The PAF has also developed a new generation fighter jet, JF-17 Thunder, which was jointly developed with CHINA’s Chengdu Aircraft Corporation (CAC).
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) has also take part in the Operation Swift Retort and destroyed 2 indian air force jets, including SU-30MKI and MiG-21 in a broad daylight on the day of February, 27th 2019. Role of PAKISTAN AIR FORCE:
The primary role of PAKISTAN AIR FORCE is to provide effective air support to the ground forces, defend the air space and destroy enemy’s air power in a complex hybrid warfare.
The PAF uses fighters such as JF-17 Thunder aircraft and F-16 Fighting Falcons to protect PAKISTAN’s airspace as well as engage enemy aircraft or ground forces if necessary.
The PAF’s main mission is to protect PAKISTAN from external threats by maintaining a strong deterrent force in the sky above all of its borders. It also provides air support for ground troops and helps safeguard civil aviation.
In addition to its combat role, the PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) also provides domestic air transport for VIPs and important government officials.
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE (PAF) is the air arm of PAKISTAN ARMED FORCES and is primarily tasked with defending the sovereignty of the country from aerial threats.
The PAF is also responsible for providing support to ground troops and carrying out operations across the border. It has several different capabilities, which include:

PAKISTAN AIR FORCE: A Formidable For Multiplier:
The primary role of PAKISTAN AIR FORCE is to ensure the security of PAKISTAN and its territorial integrity. It provides a secure environment for the country to develop and prosper.
The PAF also has a secondary role to assist friendly foreign countries in need, by conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has a wide range of capabilities, including:
- Air-to-air combat
- Air-to-ground combat (including strategic bombing)
- Anti-submarine warfare
- Search and rescue missions
- Airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) missions
- Air transport (including paratroopers or cargo delivery)
Air Superiority:
PAF’s first priority is air superiority over PAKISTAN’s airspace. This ensures that no one can enter its airspace without permission from the Government of PAKISTAN.
Air Interdiction:
PAF’s second priority is to interdict enemy forces in order to prevent them from entering PAKISTANI territory. It also helps protect the country’s borders, when necessary.
Close Air Support:
The third priority of PAF is close air support—providing backup for ground troops during combat operations by attacking enemy positions on land or at sea using fighter jets or helicopters armed with lethal missiles, munitions, rockets and bombs.
