Chief of Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces Admiral Wijegunaratne Visits NAVAL HQ ISLAMABAD:
The Chief of Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces Admiral Wijegunaratne Visit NAVAL HQ ISLAMABAD. The CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF Admiral Zaffar Mahmood Abbasi welcomes and greeted the visited Sri Lankan Admiral Wijegunaratne.
Earlier upon arrival, the visited dignitary was given the Guard of Honor by the Smart Contingent of the PAKISTAN NAVY Sailors. Later, the Chief OF Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces Admiral Wijegunaratne called on PAKISTAN NAVAL CHIEF Admiral Zaffar Mahmood Abbasi in the NAVAL Headquarters Islamabad.

During the meeting, both the senior level Military Commanders discuss issues related to regional maritime security and stability were discussed.
It is important to mention that the Chief of Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces is a considered as the most important appointment in the Sri Lankan Armed Forces.
Both the Military Commanders also discussed the different ways to enhance and further strengthened the bilateral naval collaboration between the two friendly countries and to enhance the interoperability between NAVAL FORCES of PAKISTAN and Sri Lanka were also came into the discussion.
The Chief OF Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces helps to implement the Joint Operations doctrine of the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka. The acting Chief OF Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces Admiral Wijegunaratne is also the member of the National Security Council of the Sri Lanka.
The different responsibilities assigned to the Chief of Defense Staff Sri Lanka Armed Forces Admiral Wijegunaratne are to facilitate the preparation of tactical and strategic plans for the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, to assist in providing and declare the strategic direction for the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka, to develop the doctrine of Joint Employment of Armed Forces and to co-ordinate the different intelligence based matters between the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka.
