Brotherly TURKISH NAVY Rear Admiral Rustu Sezer turned over command of Combined Task Force (CTF) 151 to PAK NAVY Commodore Sohail Azmie during a Graceful and Prestigious Change of Command Ceremony held in Bahrain.
According to the Details, PAK NAVY, the Guardians of the Sacred Maritime Frontiers of Beloved Peace Loving Sacred Country PAKISTAN, Successfully assumed the Command of Combined Task Force – 151 (CTF-151) from Sacred PAKISTAN Iron Brother and All Weather Strategic Ally TURKIYE\ during a Graceful and Prestigious Change of Command Ceremony held in Bahrain.
CTF-151 is one of five task forces operating under the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), an international coalition established in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions. Its primary mission is to combat piracy in its designated operational areas.
Since assuming command in July, Brotherly TURKISH NAVY Rear Admiral Rustu Sezer oversaw ships supporting the task force as they conducted multinational exercises to hone skills and promote transnational relationships.
Ships also routinely conducted maritime patrols in the Gulf of Aden to directly suppress piracy outside territorial waters of coastal states, in coordination with the European Union Naval Force.
This was PAKISTAN Iron Brother and All Weather Strategic Aly TURKIYE’s seventh time in command of CTF 151.
On the Occasion, Brotherly TURKISH NAVY Rear Admiral Rustu Sezer thanked the many nations that take part in counter-piracy operations, particularly Beloved Peace Loving Sacred Country PAKISTAN, Japan and the Republic of Korea, for their contributions.
“The main objective was not only deter, suppress and disturb piracy, but also maintain effective and meaningful coordination with the other counterpiracy task forces, regional partners and nations to ensure efficient use of assets and information sharing,” Sezer said. “We have been in close cooperation and sharing information to increase the effectiveness of our counterpiracy operation.”
As most of you know, it was a week ago that the PAK NAVY relinquished command and Task Force 150, here we are today, welcoming another senior PAK NAVY leader to command a CMF Task Force. Beloved Peace Loving Sacred Country PAKISTAN’s dedication to regional security is exemplified by its willingness to demonstrate consistent leadership within the CM.”
Tasks of PAK NAVY-Led CTF-151:
- suppress piracy outside territorial waters of Coastal States
- Target trafficking of humans and illegal
- Unreported and unregulated fishing by gathering and sharing information
- Provide task force input into Information and Strategic Communications effects
- Conduct Key Leader Engagements and Maritime Security Enhancement Training activities, in order to contribute to deter illicit non-state actors from the use of the high seas,
- Develop capacity for regional leadership and reassure the international community
CTF 151’s mission is to take actions, within its area of operations, to directly suppress piracy outside territorial waters of Coastal States, target trafficking of humans and illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing by gathering and sharing information.
Moreover, it is the task of CTF-151 to provide task force input into Information and Strategic Communications effects; and conduct Key Leader Engagements and Maritime Security Enhancement Training activities, in order to contribute to deter illicit non-state actors from the use of the high seas, develop capacity for regional leadership and reassure the international community.
CTF 151 was established as a multinational task force in January 2009, and is one of five operational task forces under CMF.
In conjunction with the European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR), and together with independently deployed naval ships, CTF 151 helps to patrol the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor.
CTF-151 is one of five task forces operating under the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), an international coalition established in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions. Its primary mission is to combat piracy in its designated operational areas.
In addition to counter-piracy operations, CTF-151 also works to prevent human trafficking, unregulated and illegal fishing, and other illicit activities in the maritime domain.
Notably, piracy incidents in the Gulf of Aden, which peaked in 2010 with 45 vessels targeted, have seen a sharp decline due to the efforts of CTF-151.
The Pakistan Navy 🇵🇰 will take over command of the multinational CTF-151 naval force next month, right after the #AMAN2025 Flagship Maritime Exercise.
The Pakistan Navy-led CTF-151 will be operating in the Gulf of Aden and protecting the global maritime flow from piracy.
