IAEA Praises State Of The Art Security Measures For PAKISTAN’s Nuclear Arsenal:
In a recent development, the International Atomic Energy Watchdog IAEA praises and lauded the state of the art Security measures for the Safety and Security of PAKISTAN’s Nuclear Arsenal.
According to the details, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Security Division Abdul Aziz Raja Adnan paid a visit to Karachi Nuclear Power Plant on Saturday.
During the visit the Head of IAEA’s Nuclear Security Division Abdul Azizi Raja Adnan also met the Chairman of PAKISTAN Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) Muhammad Naeem and Chairman of PAKISTAN Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA) on Saturday.
A high-level of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Nuclear Security Division was on a scheduled visit to PAKISTAN with the aim to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation between PAKISTAN and IAEA.
After thoroughly examining all the Nuclear Safeguard and Security Measures, the Head of IAEA’s Nuclear Security Division lauded the state of the art security measures and declared all the safeguard and measures are as per the strict criteria and recommendations of the International Nuclear Watchdog IAEA.
It is worth mentioning that PAKISTAN had conveyed its willingness for the subscription to Guidance on the Management of Disused Radioactive Sources back on September 11.
The Guidance on the Management of Disused Radioactive Sources supplements the basic code of conduct and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for the safety and security of Radioactive Sources, which is now considered as the important component for the safety of Global Nuclear Safety regimes throughout their life cycle.
On the other hand, the Spokesperson of PAKISTAN Foreign Office also confirmed in a statement in a weekly press briefing that PAKISTAN has undertaken a wide range of ‘Essential’ Security Measures to further strengthen the Security of its Nuclear Assets and Arsenal.
“Pakistan has been voluntarily adhering to the Code of Conduct since 2005 and has put in place all the necessary arrangements and systems consistent with the recommendations of the Code,” the Spokesperson of PAKISTAN Foreign Office Dr. Muhammad Faisal said in a statement regarding the security of PAKISTAN’s Nuclear Arsenal.
