Lockheed Martin Secures $485 Million Contract To Build LANTIRN, ISRT And Sniper Targeting Pods (ATP):
Lockheed Martin has secured the FMS contract to build LANTIRN Navigational Pods, Infrared Search and Track (IRST) and Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) for the us military and its allies, including PAKISTAN.
“Lockheed Martin Corp., Orlando, Florida, has been awarded a ceiling $485 million contract for the Department of Defense and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Sniper, Infrared Search and Track (IRST); and the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) navigation pod (fixed wing) hardware production,” Pentagon said in a press release.
The contract is based on FMS and it involves a number of different countries, including, PAKISTAN, TURKEY, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Romania, Slovakia, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Morocco, Kuwait, Republic of Korea, Bahrain and Iraq.

The company has further added all the work for the installation of the Pods would be commenced in Florida, Orlando and other locations.
The deal secured by the Lockheed Martin provides necessary resources for the integrated support, testing, fabrication, upgradation, management and shipping of LANTIRN Fixed Image Navigation, Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) and Infrared Search and Tracking System (IRST).
The total work falls under the contract is expected to be completed by the year of May 2025.
It is worth mentioning that PAKISTAN AIR FORCE uses a different array of F-16 Combat Aircraft in different configurations.
PAKISTAN AIR FORCE has already placed an initial order for the procurement of state of the art Infrared Search and Tracking System (IRST) and Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) to the Lockheed Martin.
The Infrared Search and Track (IRST), Sniper Advanced Targeting Pods (ATP) and LANTIRN Navigational pods are compatible with the F-16 Jet, F-15 Jet, CF-18, A-10, B-1 Bomber and B-52 Bomber.
Furthermore, these Pods are fully capable to engage the air to air targets and air to ground targets with identification and detection procedures.
