Now, the CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will lead the world’s best and most battle-hardened army for a another 3 years up to November 2022.
The Prime Minister Office has issued a notification regarding the extension of COAS Tenure, “CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure. The decision has been taken in view of the regional security environment.”

CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has taken the Command of PAKISTAN ARMY back on November 29, 2016 and his tenure was ending on Sep 2019.
Before taking the charge of Chief of Army Staff, General Bajwa was the Inspector General Training and Evaluation at PAKISTAN AMY’s General Headquarter (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
This is indeed an impressive decision, because the regional security situation is changing rapidly and it needs the person, who has complete command and understanding of the regional security situation.
It is important to mention that the CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has spent years at LoC at different ranks and he has got the valuable experience in understanding the situation at the Line of Control (LoC).
If the tenure of CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was not extended, then there are four officers of the PAKISTAN ARMY, who could’ve been considered to fill the space of General Bajwa.
These officers included Chief of General Staff Lt General Nadeem Raza, Karachi Commander Lt General Humayun Aziz, Multan Commander Naeem Ashraf and Strategic Command Division DG Lt Gen Sarfaraz Sattar.
CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa was awarded with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Zubair Mahmood Hayat back in November 2016.
Security analysts are saying that this is a wise decision of the Government to extend the tenure of ARMY CHIEF, as CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has a complete command on all the affairs regarding the Line of Control (LoC) and Afghan Peace Process and he knows all the thick and thin involved in the process.
