GE Marine has announced that it has cut the deal with the TURKISH Defense Giant STM (Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik Ve Ticaret A.Ş.).

STM is also the main propulsion system Integrator for the state of the art MILGEM ADA Class Warships for PAKISTAN NAVY.

US-based GE Marine will manufacture the LM2500 Marine Gas Turbines for PAKISTAN NAVY’s MILGEM ADA Class Frigates at its Evendale facility in Ohio, United States.

The Vice President of GE Marine, Marine Operations, Kris Shepherd said on the occasion, “We are delighted to provide the PAKISTAN NAVY with our proven LM2500 gas turbine to power these new MILGEM corvettes.”

“Our LM2500 gas turbines are reliably logging operating hours onboard the TURKISH Navy’s four MILGEM corvettes, the first of which was commissioned in 2011.”

It is pertinent to mention that PAKISTAN NAVY has awarded the contract to TURKISH Defense Giant ASFAT (Askeri Fabrika ve Tersane İşletme) for the procurement of four numbers of MILGEM ADA Class Warships for PAKISTAN NAVY.

According to the details of the contract, two of the MILGEM Frigates would be built in TURKEY, while the final 2 MILGEM Warships would be built domestically in PAKISTAN.

It is expected that the first of the two MILGEM ADA Class Warships would be added to the fleet of PAKISTAN NAVY in 2023 followed by the remaining two Warships a year later.

All the MILGEM ADA Class Warships built by TURKEY consists of one LM2500 Marine Gas Turbine in the configuration of combined gas and diesel with two engines. The total propulsion power of the two diesel engines is 31,600KW.

GE Marine has considered as the pioneer in manufacturing the state of the art Gas Turbines and it has sold over 1200 units of Gas Turbines to the 39 International Navies, including the TURKISH Navy’s Gabya Class and Barbaros Class Warships. GE Marine is the part of the GE Aviation.

The LM2500 Gas Turbines are already installed on the TURKISH NAVY two frigates named as CG Heybeliada (F-511) and TCG Büyükada (F-512) in a combined gas and diesel configuration with 2 diesel engines.

MILGEM ADA Class is an advanced and next generation Stealth Warships designed for surface, subsurface and anti-submarine warfare.

The MILGEM Stealth Ship is equipped with the latest Surface, Subsurface, Anti-Submarine and Anti-Air Weapons, sensors and combat management systems.

The MILGEM ADA Class Corvette is basically is 326.8 Feet long and 47.3 feet wide Combatant Naval Ship. The total displacement capacity of the Stealth Warship is 2,400,000 KG, a top speed of 56 km/hr.

The maximum range of the MILGEM ADA Class Corvette is 6,500 Kilometers and it can accommodate a total of 106 Naval Personnel on Combatant or Patrol Mission.

After the inclusion, these Next Generation Stealth Warships would be technologically most advanced Combatant Vessel in the fleet of PAKISTAN NAVY and it will add the much needed punch for the offensive capability of PAKISTAN NAVY against its adversaries, including india.
