RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM):

The meaning of word RA’AD is Thunder and it Name of the 13th SURAH-E-MUBARIK in the HOLY QURAN. The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is basically the modified and upgraded version of RA’AD-I Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), which has a maximum range up to 350 Kilometers in total.

The modified version of the RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) was revealed to the Public on PAKISTAN Parade Day back in 2017. The total range of RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is 600 Kilometers and it can hit the both at Land and Sea-based targets with pinpoint accuracy.

The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is powered by the Turbojet Engine and it is included in the class of the Subsonic Cruise Missile. The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) has a diameter of 1 meter and it has a maximum length up to 5 meters in total.

The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) uses the state of the art stealth technology and it carry a nuclear warhead and conventional warheads. The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) features the terrain hugging and low altitude missile with high maneuverability.

The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) could be deployed against sophisticated and high-value adversary targets, including the Surface to Air Missile Launchers, Ballistic Missile Launchers, Air Defense Missile Batteries, Radars, Command Centers, Warships, Frigates, Corvettes, Offshore Patrol Vessels and so on.

The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is equipped with the advanced and high-tech navigation system and guidance system, which ensures the accuracy of the missile. The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) can also hit the sea-based targets; means it can easily hit the enemy Destroyers, Frigates, Corvettes, OPV’s at sea with pinpoint accuracy.

The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is also known as the Hatf-VIII, but this name has apparently not been used by the PAKISTAN ARMY and PAKISTAN AIR FORCE. The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is basically a flying lethal bomb generally designed to carry both conventional and nuclear warheads.

The RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) is jointly developed by both PAKISTAN Air Weapons Complex (AWC) and National Engineering and Scientific Commission (NESCOM).

The first test of the missile conducted back on 25th August, 2007 and the second was test-fired on 8th May, 2008. The third test of the missile was carried out on 29th April 2011 and fourth test conducted on 30th May, 2012. The fifth one tested on 2nd February, 2015 and the Sixth one was carried out on 19th January, 2016. The Seventh test was conducted on February 18, 2020.

It is pertinent to mention that the initial test of the RA’AD-II Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) were conducted from a PAKISTAN AIR FORCE Dassault Mirage-III ROSE Combat Aircraft. However, there is a high probability that PAKISTAN AIR FORCE would integrate RA’AD-II ALCM with other potential Aerial Platforms, including the JD-17 Thunder Block-I, II, III and F-16 Viper Aircraft.
