Keel laying ceremony of 48 Ton Bollard Pull Pusher Tug being constructed for PAKISTAN NAVY held at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, PAKISTAN NAVY Media Wing Head DGPR NAVY said in an official statement.

According to the details released by the PAKISTAN NAVY Media Wing Head DGPR NAVY, 48 Ton Bollard Pull Pusher Tug keel laying ceremony held at KS&EW.

Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Projects) Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad HI (M) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the occasion.

The 48 Ton Bollard Pull Pusher Tug has an overall length of 25 meters with a total displacement 510 tons. The Bollard Pull Pusher Tug has a maximum speed of 12 Knots and it is propelled by the 2 x Diesel Engines with azimuth drive propulsion. It also featured the robust tug handling system and automated integrated machinery system.

The 48 Ton Bollard Pull Pusher Tug is equipped with the Two Diesel Generator, Navigational radar, deck crane, Towing arrangements, firefighting equipment, Sewerage Treatment Plant and a diesel driven fire pump.

The fendering arrangement of PAKISTAN NAVY’s next generation 48 Tons Bollard Pull Pusher Tug is very robust and it is especially designed according to the special requirements of PAKISTAN NAVY that is suitable for all around tugging operations.

“The vessel has an overall length of 25 m with a displacement of 510 tons. It has a maximum speed of 12 knots and propelled by 2 x diesel engines with azimuth drive propulsion system with automated integrated machinery and tug handling system. This tug is equipped with 02 x Diesel Generators, a diesel driven Fire pump. Navigational radar, firefighting system, deck crane, Sewerage Treatment Plant and towing arrangements,” DGPR NAVY said.

The power to size ratio of the Bollard Pull Pusher of this Tug is amongst the least in all the existing Bollard Pull Pusher Tugs being available in the PAKISTAN NAVY inventory.

While speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the Ceremony, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Projects) Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad HI (M), said that it is the matter of pride to witness the Keel Laying ceremony of 48 Tons Bollard Pull Pusher Tug at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) in collaboration with the M/s TOR Group of TURKEY.

“Chief Guest appreciated the performance of KS&EW and mentioned that indigenization is at the forefront of our policy and in this context it is a very convincing to see this state of the art tug to be built in country to-date,” DGPR NAVY added.

Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Projects) Rear Admiral Imran Ahmad HI (M) further added that the construction of the 48 T Bollard Pull Pusher Tug is a historic occasion as PAKISTAN NAVY, KS&EW, Ministry of Defense Production and M/s Group of TURKEY have joined their hands for the construction of the vessel.

On the occasion, Chief Guest of the Ceremony highly lauded and appreciated the distinctive and exemplary performance of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW).

Chief Guest further added that self-sufficiency, indigenization and self-reliance is the forefront of the policy and the construction of 48 Ton Bollard Pull Pusher Tug also reflects this policy.

The Keel laying ceremony of 48 Ton Bollard Pull Pusher Tug was attended by the key representatives of the M/s TOR group and the high ranking officials from MoD, PAKISTAN NAVY and Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW).
