PAKISTAN NAVY Inducts the Cutting Edge and State of the Art DAMEN 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK in its Arsenal in a prestigious Commissioning ceremony held at Constanta Port, Romania on Thursday 13th February, 2020, PAKISTAN NAVY Media Wing Head Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Rear Admiral Said in an official statement via official Twitter account.

The prestigious commissioning ceremony of 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK was held at the Romanian Port City of Constanta on February 13th, 2020. The 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK is built by the Romanian Defense Giant DAMEN Shipyard Company.

PAKISTAN NAVAL Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Fayyaz Gilani Hilal-E-Imtiaz Military HI (M) was the graced the Ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Commissioning Ceremony was also attended by the Romanian Chief Naval Overseer, Senior Management of DAMEN Shipyards Group and Teams from the Ministry of Defense Production of PAKISTAN (MoDP).

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest of the Commissioning Ceremony of 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Fayyaz Gillani HI (M) highlighted the significance of the newly inducted Offshore Patrol Vessel in PAKISTAN NAVY Arsenal.

On the occasion, the Chief Guest Vice Admiral Fayyaz Gillani highly appreciated and lauded the professional competence of Damen Shipyard Company for delivering the state of the art and Cutting-edge 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK to PAKISTAN NAVY in a record time frame.

Vice Admiral Fayyaz also underscored the importance of state of the art Frigates, Corvettes and Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) and said that it would act as a force multiplier and would significantly help the Capacity and Capabilities of PAKISTAN NAVY to safeguard the Sacred Maritime Frontiers of Sacred Country PAKISTAN.

“The commissioning ceremony was attended by Chief Naval Overseer (Romania), diplomats from friendly countries, senior management of M/s DAMEN Shipyards, Gorinchem and Galati and officials of Ministry of Defense Production, PAKISTAN,” read the communiqué.

The Ministry of Defense Production (MoDP) sealed the contract with the DAMEN Shipyards Company for the production of Two Numbers of Multipurpose 2300 Tons Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) Vessel for PAKISTAN NAVY back on 30th June, 2017.

According to the Contract, First 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK has been delivered to the PAKISTAN NAVY on February 2020. The Second 2300 Tons Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) designate as PNS TABUK is expected to join the fleet of PAKISTAN NAVY by mid of this year. 

The 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK multipurpose and multi-mission Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) designed specifically according to the special requirements of PAKISTAN NAVY.

The 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK can perform a variety of sophisticated Maritime Operations. Furthermore, the 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK can also transport both the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and a helicopter.

The 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK can also accommodate Two Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEUs) for special mission based operations.

Furthermore, the 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK is also capable to simultaneously launch two high speed Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) of 6.5 meters and 11.5 meters for special missions during the journey.

Armament Options:

As far as the Armament options of the 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK is concerned; the PNS YARMOOK OPV is equipped with the 70 mm Main Gun. PAKISTAN NAVY will be armed the PNS YARMOOK Offshore Patrol Vessel with the state of the art and lethal weaponry at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KE&WS), Karachi.

The 2300 Tons DAMEN Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) PNS YARMOOK will be armed by the Close-In Weapons system for Self Defense Purposes. PAKISTAN NAVY will also be armed with the PNS YARMOOK OPV with a total of 8 Harba Anti-Ship Supersonic Cruise Missiles (ASCM).

The Harba Cruise Missile is a state of the Art Cruise Missile, which can hit the targets sea to sea or sea to surface with a range from 450 Kilometers to 700 Kilometers in total.
