Steel Cutting Ceremony Of PAKISTAN NAVY Second MILGEM Class Warship Held At KS&EW:

More Blessings to the Brave and Great PAKISTAN Nation as the steel cutting ceremony of PAKISTAN NAVY’s Second MILGEM Class Warship or Corvette held at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KS&EW) on June 9, 2020, PAKISTAN NAVY Director General Public Relations, DGPR Rear Admiral Arshid Javed said in an official statement via the official famous microblogging website.

The Managing Director of Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) Rear Admiral Athar Saleem graced the prestigious Steel Cutting Ceremony as the Chief Guest.

The Steel Cutting ceremony is the 1st MILGEM Class Corvette and 2nd in total, held at KS&EW PAKISTAN.

The steel cutting ceremony and keel laying ceremony of PAKISTAN NAVY’s very first MILGEM Class Corvette held at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard and TURKISH Lloyd, Istanbul few days ago.

The MILGEM Class Corvette would be entirely built in PAKISTAN in collaboration with PAKISTAN’s iron Brother and All-Weather Strategic Ally, TURKEY.

“Steel Cutting Ceremony of MILGEM Class Corvettes constructed for #PAKNAVY held at KS&EW. MD KS&EW R/ Adm Ather Saleem was the Chief Guest. The contract for 04 corvettes with ToT was signed with #ASFAT which entails the construction of 02 Corvettes at TURKEY & 02 at PAKISTAN (KS&EW),” PAKISTAN NAVY DGPR Rear Admiral Arshid Javed said in an official statement.

Speaking at the prestigious steel cutting ceremony, General Manager, Ship Building, Commodore Muhammad Jahanzeb Ahsan highlighted the scope of mutual collaboration between PAKISTAN and TURKEY in the field of Defense.

During the occasion, GM Shipbuilding, Commodore Muhammad Jahanzeb Ahsan also highlighted the deep rooted friendship of PAKISTAN with its Iron Brother TURKEY for joint collaboration in the joint construction of PAKISTAN NAVY’s next generation and technologically advanced Warships.

The Steel Cutting Ceremony of PAKISTAN NAVY’s Second MILGEM Class Warship was also attended by the officials of the TURKEY’s Defense Giant, ASFAT.

PAKISTAN has signed the contract with its iron Brother TURKEY for the procurement of 4 numbers of state of the art, top of the line and cutting-edge MILGEM Class Corvettes under the Transfer of Technology (ToT) Agreement.

Under the signed agreement, 2 of the MILGEM Corvettes would be built in TURKEY, while the other 2 MILGEM Class Corvette would be entirely built in PAKISTAN at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) with the technical collaboration of TURKEY’s engineers and scientists.

The MILGEM Class Corvettes, after their near end completion, would be amongst most technologically advanced Warships in the arsenal of PAKISTAN NAVY.

These top of the line Corvettes would be equipped with the cutting-edge weaponry, including modern Anti-Air, Surface and Subsurface weapons, sensors, electronic warfare suite and combat management system.

“This steel cutting ceremony is of the 1st MILGEM class corvette being indigenously constructed at Karachi Shipyard in collab with TURKEY. These ships will be technologically most advanced platforms of #PAKNAVY & will contribute in maintaining peace & balance of power in IOR,” DGPR further added.

The steel cutting and the keel laying ceremony of PAKISTAN NAVY’s very first MILGEM Class Corvette already held at Istanbul Shipyard, TURKEY and the second Corvette would be built in PAKISTAN in coming years.

It is worth mentioning that all the MILGEM Class Warships would be equipped with the 16 Vertical Launch System (VLS); means the shop is fully capable to fire 16 modern and lethal missiles to its adversaries in a blink of a second.

PAKISTAN NAVY has also finalized the installation of TURKEY’s ASELSAN ALPER Low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) Radar to all its MILGEM Class Warships.

Furthermore, PAKISTAN NAVY is also planning to equip and arm the MILGEM Class Warships with the CHINESE Battle proven HQ-16 Medium Range Surface to Air Missile Systems (SAM). The SAM system is also equipped on all the four Type 054 Corvettes of PAKISTAN being built in PAKISTAN’s Iron Brother, CHINA.

Top Defense Experts have said that the addition of MILGEM Class Corvettes would add much-needed punch to PAKISTAN NAVY in maintaining peace & balance of power in the highly contested indian ocean region.

Top Defense Analysts have also claimed that given the continuing scenario, the 1st and 3rd MILGEM Class Corvettes would be built in TURKEY, whereas the 2nd and 4th top of the line MILGEM Class Warship would be constructed at PAKISTAN’s State owned Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW).

TURKEY would hand over the 1st and 2nd MILGEM Class Warship to PAKISTAN in 2023 and 2025, respectively. So, it could be expected that the total time frame required to construct the 2 remaining warship at PAKISTAN would also be completed around 2025.
