PAKISTAN NAVY has promoted three Rear Admirals to the Rank of Vice Admirals with immediate effect on Thursday, September 9, 2021, PAKISTAN NAVY Media Wing Head DGPR NAVY Rear Admiral Naeem Sarwar said in an official statement.

According to the details released by the PAKISTAN NAVY Media Wing Head, the DGPR NAVY, PAKISTAN NAVY has promoted Rear Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Rear Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami and Rear Admiral Imran Ahmed to the rank of Vice Admirals with immediate effect.

“R/Adm Imran Ahmad, R/Adm Naveed Ashraf & R/Adm Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami have been promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral. The newly promoted V/Adms are graduates of PN War College & NDU and have vast experience of various Command & Staff appointments. All 3 V/Adm are recipient of HI(M),” DGPR NAVY said.

Details of Newly Promoted Vice Admirals of PAKISTAN NAVY:

  1. Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf:

The newly promoted Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf was commissioned to the Operations Branch of PAKISTAN NAVY back in 1989. Throughout his remarkable career, Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf has served on various Command and Staff Appointments.

The major Command and Staff Appointments of Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf includes Commander of 18 and 25 Destroyer Squadron, Commanding Officer of PNS TIPPU SULTAN, Commanding Officers of PNS ALAMGIR, Commanding Officer of PNS MUJAHID, Commanding Officer PNS SHAHJAHAN, Commanding Officer of PNS LARKANA and he has also served as the Commandant PAKISTAN NAVAL Academy.

The major staff appointments of Flag Officer include Secretary to Chief of Staff Officer, Fleet Operations Officer at HQ Commander PAKISTAN Fleet, Captain Training at HQ Flag Officer Sea Training, Director General C4I, Director Maritime Affairs and Environmental Control, Chief Staff Officer to Commander Combined Task Force-151 HQ NAVCENT Bahrain, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (admin) and Naval Secretary at Naval Headquarter and Deputy President National Defense University Islamabad.

Currently, he is serving as the Commander PAKISTAN Fleet or COMPAK. He is a graduate of PAKISTAN NAVY War College Lahore, National Defense University Islamabad, Royal College of Defense Studies UK and Naval Staff College USA.

In recognition of his Sacred serviced to this Sacred Country PAKISTAN, the newly promoted Vice Admiral Naveed Ashraf has been awarded with the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Basalat.

  1. Vice Admiral Imran Ahmed:

The newly promoted Vice Admiral Imran Ahmed of PAKISTAN NAVY got commissioned in the Marine Engineering Branch of PAKISTAN NAVY back in 1985. Throughout his distinguished career, he has commanded several high-profile Command & Staff Appointments.

The major appointments of Vice Admiral Imran Ahmed include Commander Training (ME) with Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST), Marine Engineering Officer of T-21 Frigate and Fleet Marine Engineering Officer with Commander PAKISTAN Fleet.

He also got experience in of PAKISTAN NAVY repair and maintenance, including Managing Director PN Dockyard, General Manager Ship Repair and Construction and Deputy Manager (ICE/Gas Turbine).

He has also served as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Materials), Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Maintenance) and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Maintenance).

Moreover, he was also the head of Director General Maritime Technology Complex (R&D Organization) and Commandant PAKISTAN NAVY Engineering College (PNEC).

Currently he is serving as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Projects) at Naval Headquarters Islamabad. He is a graduate of PAKISTAN NAVY War College Lahore and National Defense University Islamabad.

In recognition of his Sacred Services to this Sacred Country PAKISTAN, the newly promoted Vice Admiral Imran Ahmed has been decorated with the coveted Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military).

  1. Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami:

The third newly promoted Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami got commissioned in the Operations Branch of PAKISTAN NAVY back in 1989. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served on major Command and Staff appointments.

Hi major Command Appointments included Commanding Officer of PNS KHAIBAR. While, his major Staff Appointments included, Director Naval Operations, Fleet Operations Officers, Chief Staff Officer to Commander PAKISTAN Fleet, Captain Training at PNS BAHADUR, Staff Officer Operations at HQ NAVCENT Bahrain, Directing Staff at NDU Islamabad, Director Naval Developmental Plans, Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (Operations), Assistance Chief of the Naval Staff (Operational Plans) and Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff at NAVAL HQ Islamabad.

As a Flag Officer, the newly promoted Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami has also served as the Additional Secretary-III at Ministry of Defense.
