PAKISTAN NAVY Commissions High-Tech PNS YARMOOK Corvette In Its Arsenal:
PAKISTAN NAVY has commissioned the state of the art and high-tech PNS YARMOOK Corvette in its arsenal. The induction ceremony of PNS YARMOOK was held as the PN Dockyard, Karachi, PAKISTAN NAVY Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Rear Admiral Arshid Javed said in an official statement via Twitter Handle account.
CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF (CNS) Admiral Zaffar Mehmood Abbasi graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the ceremony.
PAKISTAN NAVY Spokesperson said that the PNS YARMOOK is the 2300 Tons Corvette and it is fully capable conduct multi-operations in the maritime division of PAKISTAN.
“PNS YARMOOK is latest warship, possesses cutting edge weapon & terminal defence systems. The ship can perform a variety of naval Ops & transport helicopter & UAV simultaneously. The 2nd Corvette PNS TABUK is expected to join PN Fleet in coming months,” PAKISTAN NAVY DGPR said.

Speaking on the occasion, CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF (CNS) Admiral Zaffar Mehmood Abbasi said that the commissioning of PNS YARMOOK in PAKISTAN NAVY’s arsenal will provide the much needed punch and it will also act as the force multiplier in safeguarding the Sacred Maritime Frontiers of Sacred Country PAKISTAN.
PAKISTAN NAVAL CHIEF Admiral Zaffar Mehmood Abbasi highlighted that the PNS YARMOOK would significantly contribute towards achieving safe and secured maritime frontier with the initiative of Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP).

During the occasion, the CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF (CNS) Admiral Zaffar Mehmood Abbasi also underlined the plight of the Brave Kashmiri Brethren, who are facing brutality by the occupant indian security forces in the indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (iOJ&K).
CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF (CNS) Admiral Zaffar Mehmood Abbasi also paid the glorious tribute to the exemplary struggle of the Brave Kashmiri Brethren for their right of self determination.
Significance of PNS YARMOOK for PAKISTAN NAVY:
PNS YARMOOK is a state of the art Corvette that is equipped with the latest weaponry, sensors and defense systems.
PAKISTAN MoDP signed a contract with Damen in 2017 for the procurement of 2 numbers of multi-purpose Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs). PNS YARMOOK has been built by Damen at its Ottoman Shipyard in Gulati, Romania.
As far as the defense system and weaponry of PNS YARMOOK is concerned, it is equipped and armed with state of the art and cutting-edge modern warfighting capabilities.
Weaponry and Armament of PNS YARMOOK Corvette:
- Surface to Air Missile System (SAM)
- Surface to Surface Missile System (SSM)
- Soft Weapons System
- Infrared Search and Tracking (IRST) System
- Identification Friend or Foe (IFF)
- Command and Control System
- ESM with 360-degree tracking
- Fiber Optic Gyro
- External Communication Equipment
The navigation department of the ship is equipped with the Infrared Search and Tracking (IRST) system, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), Fiber Optic Gyro, ESM with 360° covers and command and control system.
The newly commissioned PNS YARMOOK is fully equipped to simultaneously launch Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats at 6.5 meters and 11.5 meters. The ship can also be equipped with the TEUs for special purpose missions.
PAKISTAN NAVY has installed different advanced defense system, weaponry and sensors. The ship is fully equipped to carry UAVs and drones as well.
PAKISTAN NAVY Spokesperson said that the 2nd OPV Vessel PNS TABUK, which is also being built at the Ottoman Shipyard at Gulati, is expected to join the fleet of PAKISTAN NAVY in the coming months and it would also be equipped with the latest weaponry and sensors like PNS YARMOOK.
